North Coast Brewing Reimagines Old Rasputin for Casual Sipping

North Coast Brewing Company is stripping the heavy intensity from its flagship Russian Imperial Stout to debut Chill Rasputin. The new 4.5% ABV offering pivots toward a sessionable format, aiming to bring the iconic dark chocolate and roasted coffee profile of the original brand to more relaxed, everyday drinking environments.

The Fort Bragg-based brewery, which has operated since 1988, plans to roll out the new stout in 16-ounce four-packs starting in early October. By lowering the alcohol content while maintaining the core flavor profile, the company hopes to capture both long-time devotees and drinkers who typically avoid the weight of a standard imperial stout. CEO Jennifer Owen describes the release as an intentional effort to keep the brand's legacy intact while providing a more versatile option for settings like hiking trips or backyard gatherings.

Sustainability remains a focal point for the release, with the four-packs utilizing compostable Eco-Rings rather than traditional plastic packaging. Customers can track the availability of the new stout through the brewery's online locator or visit the Pub at North Coast Brewing Company directly. This launch marks a significant shift for the Certified B Corp, which has built its reputation on the strength of its award-winning, high-gravity portfolio.
