Change Joins K1x Collective to Automate California Nonprofit Filings

Nonprofits utilizing the K1x platform for tax operations can now access automated California charitable registration tools through a new partnership with Change. By integrating AI-enabled compliance technology into the K1x Collective ecosystem, the collaboration aims to simplify state-level filing requirements that often complicate online fundraising efforts for tax-exempt organizations.

The alliance addresses a critical operational hurdle for organizations soliciting contributions within California. Under the state’s AB 488 regulations, platforms must verify an organization's status with both the IRS and the California Attorney General to authorize donation processing. By incorporating Change’s automated workflows, K1x users gain a centralized path to manage these registrations, ensuring they remain eligible for digital fundraising channels.

K1x customers can initiate the process by completing a questionnaire within their existing dashboard. Change then leverages AI to translate these responses into the necessary state filing formats, handling validation and submission while providing real-time progress tracking. Chris Capko, Chief Revenue Officer at K1x, noted that the integration serves to reduce the friction of complex compliance workflows, allowing nonprofits to handle state-level obligations alongside their annual Form 990 filings. Amar Shah, Co-Founder and President of Change, added that the platform’s scalable architecture is designed to extend these compliance capabilities to a broader range of service providers. While the current rollout focuses on California, the companies indicated that support for additional states is in development.
