Hannah Einbinder Joins Criticism of Ed Sheeran Over Tour Fallout

Hannah Einbinder has directed a sharp rebuke toward Ed Sheeran, wishing the singer a “really bad sunburn” as fallout intensifies over the removal of rapper Macklemore from the U.S. Loop Tour. The comedian’s comments highlight the deepening divide surrounding the tour’s response to political expression and venue-led cancellations.

The controversy erupted after Macklemore, who performed at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium in September, used his set to voice support for Palestinians and perform his protest song “Hind’s Hall.” Following pressure from pro-Israel groups, venue owners warned promoters that the rapper’s presence would lead to show cancellations. Messina Touring Group ultimately removed him from the remaining dates, citing the need to protect the tour and its thousands of fans.

Sheeran has maintained that the decision was not his, noting that the rapper’s contract was held by the promoter. Despite his attempts to mediate, the singer faced significant backlash, including the withdrawal of artists such as Finneas, Lukas Graham, and Beoga. While Sheeran has stated he is “appalled” by the conflict and insists on keeping his platform focused on unity, Einbinder’s public dig underscores the growing friction among artists regarding industry silence and political accountability. The actress, who has frequently used her own platform to advocate for Palestinians while navigating her Jewish identity, remains one of the most vocal critics of the tour’s handling of the situation.
