The installation spans 16 acres and is expected to generate 3,950 MWh of renewable energy each year. Under a Power Purchase Agreement with solar developer Alight, the behind-the-meter setup will cover approximately 22% of the site’s power requirements. This shift is projected to offset 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent over the next 25 years.
Frank Bugg, Senior Vice President of UK & Europe Operations, stated that the initiative aligns with the company’s broader strategy to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% by 2030. Rob Stait, Managing Director at Alight, noted that the collaboration serves as a practical model for industrial sites seeking to stabilize energy costs while simultaneously strengthening grid resilience.
