The platform functions as an intelligent front door for corporate legal teams, including those at SAP, PepsiCo, and BILL. By moving intelligence upstream, First Pass captures incoming requests at the point of origin, automatically filing them into existing matters and routing them based on specific team guidelines. This prevents the common bottleneck where highly trained lawyers must perform basic triage on documents that could otherwise be resolved or deflected by automated workflows.
For contract management, the system runs incoming documents against established playbooks to generate risk scores and summaries before a lawyer ever opens the file. In the invoice space, the tool checks for formatting errors and audits line items against billing guidelines. According to CEO Evan Wong, the goal is to strip away the repetitive filtering work that currently defines much of the in-house legal experience. Early adopters, such as Hitachi Digital, report that the technology provides a pre-informed request rather than a cold submission, significantly streamlining operations. The feature is currently available through early access, with a wider rollout scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
