The joint development effort focuses on a platform capable of supporting simultaneous Mil-X, Mil Ka-band, and commercial Ka and Ku-band frequencies. By incorporating electronic switching across an extended range, the system allows military users to maintain secure, high-capacity communications across LEO, MEO, GEO, and HEO orbits. This hardware is specifically engineered to meet rigorous MIL-SPEC requirements and achieve full WGS certification for government use.
Eric Sung, CEO of Intellian, noted that the platform directly addresses the escalating complexity of modern defense operations by providing a rapidly deployable architecture. Beyond the WGS-certified units, the companies plan to release non-WGS commercial variants to serve a wider government and enterprise market. Network Innovations CEO Derek Dawson emphasized that the collaboration leverages two decades of field experience to ensure these terminals integrate seamlessly with both legacy satellites and emerging low-earth orbit technologies.
