Phillips brings a dual perspective to the role, having previously held positions at Liberty Mutual, Grange, and Nationwide. His tenure at Patra and Genpact focused on restructuring underwriting, claims, and finance departments through the integration of automation and AI. At FOCUS, he will direct the sales organization, overseeing the company’s Launch, Grow, and Scale service tiers.
President Pete Crowe noted that Phillips possesses a rare understanding of the accountability required by carrier and MGA operations leaders. The company currently employs over 300 U.S.-based staff, including more than 100 licensed insurance professionals, and has expanded its headcount by 65 employees throughout 2026 to meet rising client demand.
Phillips cited the company’s ability to synchronize licensed expertise with AI as the primary driver for his move. He pointed to common industry bottlenecks, such as prolonged onboarding periods and reporting failures, which he intends to address by leveraging the existing operational framework. Interested parties can meet the team at the upcoming ITC Vegas conference from September 29 to October 1.
