The new suite centers on low-SWaP (size, weight, and power) architecture, allowing for rapid integration across a broader range of aircraft than traditional, heavier EW systems. By leveraging commercial off-the-shelf microchips, the company expects to accelerate production cycles and maintain supply chain efficiency. These units are designed to be field-upgradeable, utilizing open standards to ensure software-defined responses to emerging electromagnetic threats.
Rebecca Cruz, Director of Shadow EW products, emphasized that platform size should no longer dictate survivability. The system supports a wide operational spectrum, from basic situational awareness and targeting to active deception and the delivery of collaborative electronic effects. Manufacturing will be concentrated at BAE Systems facilities in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while design and software development remain based in Nashua, New Hampshire.
