The platform, now in early access, allows pathologists to upload screenshots of H&E slides to instantly retrieve morphologically similar, diagnosed reference cases. By streamlining the differential diagnosis process for the roughly 20% of cases deemed rare or complex, the tool bypasses the need for traditional, time-consuming consultations that can cost thousands of dollars.
Powered by Atlas 2—a foundation model developed alongside the Mayo Clinic—the search engine draws from a database currently containing over 310,000 whole slide images. These results are sourced from more than 35,000 validated cases across 300 diagnostic entities. Unlike "black box" tools, every match in PathoSearch is traceable to a real, molecularly confirmed case, allowing clinicians to inspect the underlying data directly. While currently limited to research use, the system is already integrating into existing infrastructure, beginning with the Techcyte Fusion AP platform.
