Curators Mami Kataoka and Arja Miller have centered the upcoming event on the theme Unknowns, an exploration of curiosity and the boundaries of human understanding. The program pulls inspiration from diverse disciplines, including astronomy, mythology, and geology, to challenge how audiences perceive the invisible forces shaping the world. The exhibition will feature roughly 45 artists and collectives, including Yoshitomo Nara, Britta Marakatt-Labba, and Marguerite Humeau.
The biennial distinguishes itself by blending maritime nature with urban infrastructure. Visitors can traverse the historic fortifications of Vallisaari Island via ferry before moving to the city’s central promenade and the HAM Helsinki Art Museum. Beyond the temporary installations, the event continues a tradition of leaving permanent public art pieces across the city, cementing the biennial's role as a long-term contributor to the Finnish capital’s cultural landscape.
