Midwest Fiber Networks to Build 1,200-Mile Regional Connectivity Corridor

The project utilizes Hawkeye Land Co.’s existing right-of-way assets, which include exclusive easement rights along former Rock Island Railroad corridors spanning 106 counties. By leveraging these established paths, the partnership aims to provide carriers, hyperscalers, and data centers with redundant, scalable connectivity options. Midwest Fiber Networks will lead the commercialization efforts, offering services ranging from dark fiber to lit high-capacity solutions.

Engineering and procurement for the network are already underway, with equipment deliveries expected before the end of 2026. According to Ken Anderson, Managing Director of Fiberpath, the collaboration merges specific regional infrastructure expertise with the intent to address a rising demand for resilient, long-haul data transport across the central United States.
