Hagerstown Aviation Museum Hosts Wings and Wheels Expo 2026

Thousands of aviation enthusiasts and history buffs will gather at the Hagerstown Regional Airport on September 12, 2026, for a day celebrating the region's storied flight heritage. The Wings and Wheels Expo showcases the world’s largest collection of Fairchild aircraft alongside a classic car cruise-in and interactive flight experiences.

The event highlights the evolution of aerospace technology, featuring the museum's newly acquired Fairchild-Republic A-10C Thunderbolt II, affectionately known as the Warthog. Visitors can explore the interior of historic military workhorses, including the Fairchild C-82 and C-119 Flying Boxcars, as well as the C-123K Provider. For those seeking a firsthand perspective on vintage flight, the museum is offering open-cockpit rides in its 1943 Fairchild PT-19 primary trainer and UC-61 utility aircraft for a $200 donation.

Beyond the flight line, the expo merges automotive and aerial history through a partnership with Paws and Pistons. The cruise-in invites owners of antique cars, trucks, and motorcycles to display their vehicles, with the first 200 registrants receiving commemorative dash plaques. The day also features live music from the New Horizons Band, local food concessions, and youth-focused programming, including free flights for children aged 8 to 17 through the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles initiative. Admission is based on a suggested $10 donation, which supports the ongoing preservation of the museum’s 1943 Fairchild Flight Test Hangar.
