Murray’s Cheese Brings Exclusive Cave-Aged Collection to Charlotte

Five Harris Teeter locations in the Charlotte area are now stocking Murray’s Cheese’s signature cave-aged collection, marking the first time the boutique New York-based brand has brought its specialized affinage process to the region. The debut includes several award-winning wheels crafted in collaboration with top American cheesemakers.

The expansion introduces a selection of small-batch cheeses that undergo controlled ripening in Murray’s state-of-the-art New York caves. By managing precise temperature and humidity, the team develops complex rinds and distinct flavor profiles that have earned the brand significant industry recognition, including multiple honors at the 2026 American Cheese Society competition.

Featured items in this launch range from the clothbound Original Stockinghall Cheddar—previously named Best American Cheese at the World Cheese Awards—to the spruce-wrapped Mini Greensward. According to Nick Tranchina, president of Murray’s Cheese, the goal is to provide local shoppers with access to experimental flavors that were previously unavailable outside of their flagship retail shops.

To celebrate the rollout, Harris Teeter is hosting a series of Perfect Pairing events on August 27 across the five participating stores, including locations in Morrocroft Village, Stonecrest, and Rea Farms. These events offer customers direct access to Murray’s affineurs and tasting opportunities, reflecting a broader shift toward interactive, expert-led cheese counters within the Kroger-owned grocery chain.
