Parton was deeply involved in the project, co-writing the show’s book alongside Maria S. Schlatter and contributing both classic hits and original music. The musical, which follows her journey from the Smoky Mountains to global stardom, will feature multiple performers to depict various stages of her life. Directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher, the production builds upon a successful 2025 run in Nashville, Tennessee. By moving forward with the project, producers aim to preserve the legacy Parton spent years meticulously constructing.
