ISA and OTCC Forge Alliance to Unify Industrial Cybersecurity Standards

The collaboration centers on the adoption of the ISA/IEC 62443 series, a globally recognized framework for operational technology security. While ISA provides the foundational standards, the OTCC—a consortium of industry stakeholders—focuses on the real-world application of these protocols. This synergy is designed to move security guidelines from theoretical documentation into active industrial environments.

ISA CEO Claire Fallon emphasized that protecting critical infrastructure demands a commitment to standards-based guidance. Tatyana Bolton, executive director of the OTCC, noted that the organizations approach the problem from complementary angles. The coalition recently argued in a position paper that the industry should move toward a single, horizontal standard rather than a fragmented landscape of sector-specific mandates. By centering efforts on ISA/IEC 62443, the groups intend to reduce the compliance burden on operators while ensuring more resilient industrial systems.
