Wix Investors Face Losses Following AI Cost Disclosure and Stock Plunge

A 27% single-day share price collapse in mid-May has triggered a securities class action lawsuit against Wix.com Ltd., as investors allege the company misled them regarding the financial strain and competitive efficacy of its flagship AI initiatives, Base44 and Harmony, throughout the 2025-2026 fiscal period.

The lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of Illinois under Yappi v. Wix.com Ltd., et al., represents shareholders who acquired securities between February 19, 2025, and May 12, 2026. Plaintiffs contend that Wix overstated the performance of its AI tools while concealing the massive, front-loaded development and marketing costs required to sustain them. These hidden expenditures eventually crippled the company's non-GAAP operating margin, which plummeted from 21% to just 5% year-over-year.

Management’s disclosures regarding these AI platforms—marketed as a defense against the rise of "vibe coding"—have come under intense scrutiny. During the Q1 2026 earnings call, executives admitted the Harmony platform suffered from missing capabilities and development delays, leading professional users to defect to competing tools. This revelation wiped over $1.1 billion from the company’s market capitalization in a single day. Reed Kathrein, a partner at Hagens Berman, the firm leading the investigation, stated that they are scrutinizing whether Wix intentionally understated the adverse financial effects of these initiatives to maintain investor confidence.
