Michael Douglas Welcomes Catherine Zeta-Jones Skipping His Memoir

When asked how he felt about his wife admitting she had no plans to read his new memoir, Michael Douglas didn't hesitate. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the veteran actor offered a swift, two-word endorsement for her decision: “Ooh yeah!”

The couple, who have been married for 25 years, face a significant age gap that Douglas suggests makes the book’s contents—which detail his life long before they met—better left unread by his spouse. The memoir, titled One Helluva of a Ride, pulls back the curtain on his past romances, including an affair with Kathleen Turner during the filming of Romancing the Stone, and his relationship with Jeanne Tripplehorn. Douglas noted that Zeta-Jones was only seven years old when those events occurred.

Zeta-Jones has cited a grueling production schedule for her lack of reading time. Between filming the third season of Wednesday in Dublin and moving immediately into a project in London titled Kill Jackie, the actress has had little downtime. While she has encouraged others to pick up the book, she admitted to having no intention of diving into her husband’s history during her few hours of rest. Douglas seems to agree, noting that with their age difference, his wife has had to accept that he lived a full life long before they crossed paths.
