Attorneys representing the comedian filed for registration of a foreign guardianship in New Hampshire, hoping to bypass the need for a new legal process in the state. The property in question, a two-bedroom ranch built in 1995, has been listed for sale since June. This legal move is part of Leno’s ongoing management of his wife’s estate, which was granted to him by a Los Angeles court in April 2024 after clinical assessments indicated Mavis had lost the capacity to manage her own financial affairs.
Since the diagnosis, Leno has spoken openly about his role as a primary caretaker, framing the responsibility as a fulfillment of his marital vows. While the logistical demands of her care—including daily assistance with basic needs—have fundamentally altered his routine, the 76-year-old comedian has dismissed the idea of distancing himself from his wife during her illness. He remains focused on maintaining their long-term partnership, viewing the current challenges not as a burden, but as the core definition of his commitment to their marriage.
