Rain announced the pledge in a TikTok video, explicitly framing the gesture as a response to the former candidate’s failed policy. Fishback had centered much of his platform on branding the adult content industry as a moral failing, promising that his proposed tax would generate millions for the state’s education system. Rain, who was personally targeted by Fishback during his campaign, questioned the legitimacy of those claims, telling her followers she intended to provide the support directly to educators instead.
Fishback, an investment firm CEO, failed to gain significant traction, receiving approximately 10.5% of the vote while U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds secured the nomination. His tax proposal never advanced beyond rhetoric, and legal experts noted that such a levy would have required a two-thirds majority in both legislative chambers, far exceeding the power of a governor. Throughout the campaign, Rain dismissed the proposal as a transparent attempt to gain political attention, arguing that she already contributes substantial federal taxes and that the move would likely drive creators out of the state. While Rain has not specified the total amount of funding she will commit, she has invited Florida teachers to submit their supply lists for immediate consideration.
