The campaign, released Tuesday, features the late actress explaining the stark contrast between the natural lives of marine mammals and their existence in amusement park tanks. Standing beside the tub, Panettiere urged the public to stop supporting facilities that hold these animals in confinement. She questioned the trauma and depression experienced by creatures whose well-being is systematically stripped away, calling on viewers to vow against visiting any marine park that maintains such conditions.
This project marked the final chapter of a long-standing commitment to marine wildlife that defined much of Panettiere’s public life. Her activism gained international attention in 2007 when she launched the “Save the Whales Again!” campaign. That same year, she famously traveled to Taiji, Japan, to confront dolphin hunters, paddling into a cove stained red with blood alongside other activists. The incident, which garnered global headlines and was later featured in the Academy Award-winning documentary The Cove, solidified her reputation as a vocal advocate. Despite reports of a potential arrest warrant and the intensity of the confrontation, she remained steadfast, later telling the MarineBio Conservation Society that she would not hesitate to take similar action again.
