Elevator Service, Inc. Expands Into Chicago With East Elevator Buyout

Chicago native and ESI CEO Jason Vallee is taking his national brand into his home market, acquiring the local firm East Elevator. The deal marks a strategic expansion for the service provider, which aims to leverage the regional reputation of founder Joe Marks to anchor its presence in the city.

Joe Marks launched East Elevator 19 years ago as a two-person operation, naming the firm after the initials of his four children. The company built its reputation on local relationships and responsiveness, qualities ESI intends to maintain under its ownership model. Marks will remain involved during the transition period to ensure continuity for existing customers and staff as the business integrates into ESI’s national infrastructure.

For ESI, the acquisition serves as a gateway into a complex metropolitan market that Vallee knows intimately from his own career. Rather than imposing a top-down corporate structure, the parent company plans to supply the local team with enhanced technical resources, recruiting support, and digital infrastructure. Vallee stated that the immediate focus remains on preserving the local identity that fueled East Elevator's growth, with plans to identify a long-term leader to manage operations as the firm scales throughout the greater Chicago area.
