Delhaize BeLux upgrades supply chain with SymphonyAI replenishment

Grocery retailer Delhaize BeLux has integrated SymphonyAI’s demand forecasting and replenishment platform across its 600-store affiliated network and five distribution centers in Belgium. The move aims to refine inventory precision within a complex B2B pull model that lacks the traditional buffer of standard retail operations.

Operating a network of 1,113 stores across Belgium and Luxembourg under various banners—including Proxy, Shop&Go, and louis delhaize—the company faces unique supply chain pressures. Géraldine Durant, Supply Chain Replenishment and Master Data Director at Delhaize, noted that the affiliate model prevents pushing inventory risk downstream, making accurate forecasting an absolute necessity to avoid absorption of costs. The retailer, which has maintained a 15-year partnership with SymphonyAI, reports that the transition to AI-driven models has consistently improved forecast accuracy.

Manish Choudhary, President of Retail at SymphonyAI, highlighted the technical difficulty of the Delhaize environment, citing its multi-echelon structure and high volume of fresh goods. He described the implementation as a compounding success, where the system improves replenishment operations continuously rather than peaking at the point of go-live.
