Serving on the company’s board since 2002, McKay played an instrumental role in shaping the firm’s trajectory from its infancy. Executive Chairman Ned N. Fleming, III credited him as a foundational advisor who championed the strategy of focusing growth within the Southeast, a move that solidified the company’s evolution into a major public entity. Beyond his strategic influence, McKay provided critical oversight as a member of the Audit Committee starting in 2008.
McKay’s career spanned decades of investment and academic leadership. An Advisory Partner at Bain & Company who helped establish its Private Equity Group, he also served as a Senior Lecturer at the Brandeis International Business School. His colleagues noted that his rare combination of financial expertise and academic rigor helped instill the disciplined governance that defines the organization today. To honor his contributions, the company plans to dedicate its boardroom at the Dothan, Alabama headquarters in his name.
