The certification process requires third-party testing that goes beyond standard regulatory requirements. By evaluating products for industrial contaminants, plasticizers, and pesticides that often enter the food supply chain before manufacturing, the Clean Label Project aims to verify ingredient purity. For BIXBI, this validation covers key lines including their Rawbble recipes and the newly launched ProteinBlend, which combines freeze-dried pieces with air-dried jerky bites to support skin and coat health.
Rachel D'Agostino, CEO of BIXBI Pet, noted that the external recognition reinforces the company’s internal quality standards. Molly Hamilton, executive director of the Clean Label Project, highlighted that the certification identifies brands taking proactive steps to mitigate risks that are typically absent from ingredient labels. Following this success, the Louisville-based company has initiated testing for its cat kibble portfolio, aiming to apply the same rigorous safety protocols across its entire product range.
