Firebird Launches Regional AI Hub in Armenia with NVIDIA Support

The project serves as a strategic pivot for Armenia, with plans to deploy over 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs by the end of 2027. By utilizing the NVIDIA DSX reference design and Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, the facility aims to increase GPU density within its existing footprint, targeting 300 megawatts of capacity in the country. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the development as a direct outcome of bilateral technology cooperation agreements established last year.

Firebird’s ambitions extend beyond local borders, with 125 megawatts of capacity already secured in Kazakhstan’s Data Center Valley. Backed by investments from NVIDIA and CoreWeave, the company is building a pipeline that targets two gigawatts of total capacity by 2028. Beyond hardware, the firm has already secured Perplexity as an anchor customer, marking a move to attract AI-native companies to the region. Company co-founder Alexander Yesayan noted that the speed of the Hrazdan deployment demonstrates a scalable model for sovereign AI infrastructure, while NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the importance of providing researchers and startups with the computing foundation necessary to compete in a global AI economy.
