The new integration allows customers to select installment plans directly on payment terminals at participating 1stMILE-network shops. Unlike standard Buy Now, Pay Later services that often require new account openings or separate credit checks, this system leverages a consumer’s current credit card. Merchants receive full payment upfront, which helps shops finalize repairs that might otherwise be postponed due to budget constraints.
Ran Landau, CTO of Splitit, noted that the model addresses the friction of emergency automotive expenses, such as transmission failures or brake replacements. The rollout is currently scaling across 1stMILE’s network, which encompasses more than 17,000 locations nationwide. Rob Murphy, Vice President of Credit Services at 1stMILE, stated that the move aligns with increasing consumer demand for flexible payment options within the automotive aftermarket, ultimately aiming to boost repair conversion rates and long-term customer loyalty.
