Molly Ringwald Rates The Secret Life of the American Teenager a One

Conflict defines a set: Molly Ringwald recently identified the ABC Family drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager as the worst project of her career, citing a single difficult co-star who soured the experience despite her genuine affection for the rest of the cast.

During a segment on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the actress participated in a game of Spill the IMDb Tea, where she assigned numerical ratings to her past film and television roles based strictly on the filming experience. While she awarded other projects higher marks, she bottomed out the scale at a one for her time as Anne Juergens, the role she played from 2008 to 2013. Ringwald declined to name the individual responsible for the tension, maintaining that the person’s behavior overshadowed her otherwise positive relationship with co-stars like Shailene Woodley.

The conversation also pivoted to the professional choices that shaped her trajectory. Ringwald revealed she previously passed on the lead role in the supernatural romance Ghost, which eventually went to Demi Moore. Although she acknowledged that taking the part might have fundamentally altered her career path, she noted that she simply failed to connect with the script at the time. Reflecting on her decades in the industry, the actress emphasized that she relied on survival instincts to navigate Hollywood’s predatory environment, a reality that now informs her hesitation regarding her own daughter’s aspirations to enter the acting world.
