BRAINBox Solutions Secures Funding to Scale Concussion Diagnostics

The company plans to utilize this capital to advance both hardware and software development, while acquiring pilot instruments for its diagnostic platform. CEO Donna Edmonds noted that the financing follows a successful collaboration with Prolight Diagnostics, where a feasibility study confirmed that the Psyros platform could effectively process BRAINBox’s concussion assays. The study analyzed 260 patient samples, demonstrating that the technology can detect biomarkers at single-digit nanogram-per-liter concentrations from a single drop of blood.

This initiative aligns with the company’s goal to decentralize concussion testing. By enabling diagnostic capabilities in ambulances, clinics, and athletic facilities, BRAINBox aims to move beyond traditional hospital laboratories. Their primary diagnostic tool combines a blood-based biomarker panel with a digital neurocognitive testing suite to generate a composite injury score, establishing a new clinical standard for managing mild traumatic brain injuries.
