JIJ Secures $5.2 Million to Scale Quantum and AI Optimization

Tokyo-based JIJ Inc. has raised 840 million yen—approximately $5.2 million—in fresh equity financing led by Global Brain. The capital infusion aims to accelerate the deployment of the company’s AI-enabled optimization platform and expand its research into gate-based quantum computing middleware across global markets.

The funding round includes participation from multiple funds managed by Global Brain and Fujitsu Ventures Limited. JIJ plans to use the proceeds to bolster its engineering and business development teams, supporting the transition of its mathematical optimization tools from research environments into day-to-day enterprise operations.

At the core of the company's strategy is the JijZept software suite, which supports the entire optimization lifecycle. The firm recently launched a beta version of JijZept AI, a cloud-based agent service that automates the process of defining requirements and building mathematical models. With established subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Germany, JIJ is now scaling its presence in the United States to meet demand for complex planning and allocation solutions in sectors ranging from logistics to energy.

Founder and CEO Yu Yamashiro emphasized that the investment validates the company's mission to make industrial challenges computable. Beyond classical optimization, JIJ is actively developing open-source technologies like Qamomile and middleware to bridge the gap between high-performance computing and emerging gate-based quantum hardware. Investors in this round, including ANA Holdings and Mitsubishi Electric, highlighted the potential for these technologies to streamline large-scale operational tasks, such as flight scheduling and supply chain management.
