MedStar Health’s dominant regional presence is anchored by MedStar Washington Hospital Center, which secured the number one rank for cardiology, heart, and vascular surgery. Alongside this, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital earned the top regional position for cancer treatment, bolstered by its collaboration with the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Meanwhile, MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital solidified its status as the leading facility for rehabilitation services in the D.C. metro area.
Beyond regional accolades, the network achieved significant national recognition. MedStar Washington ranked 16th nationwide for cardiology and heart surgery, while MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital reached the 16th spot in its specialty. MedStar Georgetown also secured a top-50 national ranking for cancer care. Kenneth A. Samet, president and CEO of MedStar Health, noted that these results reflect the daily commitment of the system's physicians and nursing staff to providing high-level patient care.
The rankings also highlighted the system’s breadth in treating common conditions. Seven MedStar facilities received 'High-Performing' ratings across 23 categories, including stroke, knee replacement, and heart attack recovery. MedStar Union Memorial Hospital stood out by placing second in orthopedics within the Baltimore and Maryland regions, further cementing the health system's regional influence.
