Vestis Workers in Indianapolis End 19-Day Strike With New Contract

The deal guarantees a 40-hour work week and provides workers with access to the Michigan Conference of Teamsters Health and Welfare Fund, alongside significant wage increases. For many of the employees represented by Teamsters Local 135, the successful strike marked a shift in their relationship with management, turning a period of confrontation into a leverage-based victory.

Dustin Roach, president of Local 135, credited the outcome to the group's internal cohesion throughout the 19-day stoppage. Ethan Weber, a Vestis employee, noted that the union members are returning to their routes with a renewed sense of collective power. The local organization currently represents over 12,000 workers across various industries, focusing on contract enforcement and aggressive organizing tactics to ensure consistent representation for its members.
