Speaking on her podcast, The Tangle, O’Donnell clarified that her participation is strictly limited to the anniversary celebration rather than a permanent return to the co-host chair. The 64-year-old entertainer noted she is proud of how the series has evolved to address political issues, though she remains critical of the show’s early years, which she described as a high-stress environment governed by male executives who dictated content.
Her history with the show includes a notably strained relationship with current moderator Whoopi Goldberg during a 2014-2015 stint. O’Donnell characterized the friction as a misunderstanding of professional boundaries, noting that while she admired Goldberg’s EGOT status, their working styles frequently collided. Despite those past tensions, she emphasized that the two have since reconciled. Looking beyond the anniversary, O’Donnell dismissed recent rumors linking her to a hosting role on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, stating she has no interest in late-night television. Instead, she is actively exploring a return to daytime broadcasting, provided the project mirrors the warm, nostalgic format of her original 1990s talk show.
