American Rheinmetall to Develop Autonomous Logistics Fleet for U.S. Army

The initiative focuses on integrating commercial automotive innovation with military-grade resilience. American Rheinmetall is partnering with Harbinger to utilize its flexible, hybrid-powered chassis, while Forterra contributes the autonomous navigation systems required for distributed, mission-aware operations. Primordial Labs will integrate its Anura interface, a voice-control technology designed to allow Soldiers to issue natural language commands to robotic systems, effectively treating the vehicles as battlefield teammates.

By automating the transport of supplies to forward-deployed troops, the program aims to shift the cognitive burden of logistics away from human operators. Jim Schirmer, VP of Sales and Marketing at American Rheinmetall, stated that the project directly addresses the Army’s modernization requirements by increasing operational readiness. The current contract includes provisions for follow-on production, positioning the partnership to scale its fleet as the military continues to refine its autonomous logistics strategy.
