Future Union Launches Global Ranking of Private Defense Tech Firms

The index, developed alongside partners including Ankura Consulting and Silicon Valley Bank, evaluates 300 firms based on government contract demand, independent comparable capabilities, and resource availability. Unlike traditional market assessments, this ranking prioritizes demonstrable, deployed technology across eight key verticals. The data reveals that while the United States maintains dominance in foundational production tiers—controlling 100 percent of the top-tier 'Arsenal' in advanced compute and strategic resources—international players are rapidly closing the gap.

Non-U.S. companies now account for 92 of the top 300 firms, representing 26 nations. These firms are forming a 'Sovereign Stack' of specialized regional hubs: the United Kingdom leads in deep technology, Israel dominates cyber-kinetic systems, Ukraine excels in combat-proven autonomy, and Turkey has emerged as a leader in uncrewed systems. Future Union founder Andrew King noted that in strike capabilities, allied companies currently outnumber American counterparts 22 to 17. The organization plans to update these rankings annually, while launching a weekly leaderboard to track government contract awards and push for greater transparency in defense procurement.
