Kiehl’s Scales Smart Mirror Roll-out to Global Retail Markets

Kiehl’s is expanding its interactive retail strategy, deploying smart mirror installations across the UK, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, and China. Following an initial launch in New York, the brand is moving to establish these motion-sensing, augmented reality displays as permanent fixtures in its international stores to deepen customer engagement.

The installations, developed in collaboration with spatial technology firm LOOOK.AI, replace traditional static displays with personalized, interactive interfaces. As shoppers approach, motion sensors trigger facial scanning technology to offer tailored skincare introductions. According to Dmytro Kornilov, CEO of FFFACE.ME, this shift marks a departure from short-lived gimmicks toward a new standard for in-store consumer interaction. Data from internal testing supports this transition, showing that while consumer engagement with video content typically drops off within two seconds, interactive mirror experiences hold shopper attention for up to ten seconds.

These mirrors are designed as permanent infrastructure rather than temporary marketing activations, allowing Kiehl’s to evolve the digital experience as the programme matures across new territories. The current expansion follows successful deployments at Westfield London and Dubai Festival City, signaling a broader commitment to integrating augmented reality into the permanent physical retail environment.
