Walmart and Wing Launch Drone Delivery Service in Greater Orlando

Walmart and Alphabet’s Wing have officially deployed a drone delivery network across Central Florida, aiming to bypass traffic congestion by delivering goods from local Supercenters in as little as 30 minutes. The service targets both busy families and tourists, marking a significant expansion for the retail giant’s logistics footprint.

The partnership is currently operational, with plans for an aggressive rollout over the next year. Both companies intend to expand the service to more than 270 stores, working toward a broader coast-to-coast network by 2027 that could eventually reach 10% of the U.S. population. Executives suggest the technology is uniquely suited to the region, helping residents avoid the intense summer heat and providing vacationers with quick access to essentials like sunscreen or lunch without the need for car travel.

Heather Rivera, Wing’s Chief Business Officer, noted that the initiative focuses on saving customers time and simplifying daily routines. Greg Cathey, Walmart’s Senior Vice President of eCommerce Fulfillment Transformation, added that the collaboration provides a new layer of flexibility and speed, integrating autonomous flight into the retailer's existing fulfillment ecosystem.
