London bodywork brand MASAJ secures £1.5 million for expansion

MASAJ, a London-based massage studio brand, has raised £1.5 million in a funding round co-led by FIGR Ventures and Sorven Capital. The investment brings the company’s total funding to £2 million, providing the capital necessary to accelerate its UK footprint and expand its team over the coming year.

The brand, founded by Scarlet Amies and Alice, aims to professionalize the fragmented massage industry by moving away from gig-economy labor models. By prioritizing therapist retention and consistent service quality, MASAJ has established a loyal customer base, reporting a 40% monthly return rate and 43% year-on-year revenue growth. Since its 2021 launch, the company has completed over 110,000 hours of treatment across its three current locations, including its most recent opening in Islington.

Fiona O’Callaghan, Managing Director at FIGR Ventures, highlighted that the investment addresses a significant gap in the wellness market. By offering stable career paths for practitioners, MASAJ seeks to build a scalable, trust-based model capable of competing with established wellness categories like facials and nail services. The new funding will support immediate expansion efforts in London, with long-term plans to scale the concept internationally.
