General Dynamics Secures $76.6 Billion Navy Submarine Contract

General Dynamics will receive $29.5 billion for the Columbia-class vessels and $42.1 billion for the Virginia-class fleet, with the remaining funds allocated toward critical shipyard infrastructure upgrades. The contract modifications aim to stabilize production schedules for the Groton-based shipbuilder, which currently employs over 27,000 workers.

Mark Rayha, president of General Dynamics Electric Boat, noted that the long-term commitment provides the demand certainty required to sustain workforce recruitment and facility investments. By securing these assets, the Navy seeks to bolster national security through a modernized, expanded submarine force. The parent company, Reston-based General Dynamics, reported $52.6 billion in revenue for 2025 and continues to serve as a primary contractor for defense systems ranging from land combat vehicles to aerospace technology.
