Stellus Capital Posts Preliminary Q2 Gains Amid Portfolio Shift

Stellus Capital Investment Corporation expects to report net investment income between $0.25 and $0.27 per share for the second quarter of 2026. The Houston-based firm cited fair value appreciation and active share repurchases as key drivers for an estimated net asset value increase of up to 2.4% since March.

The company estimates its net asset value per share reached between $12.76 and $12.84 by June 30, 2026, marking a notable rise from the $12.54 reported at the end of the first quarter. This performance contributed to an annualized return on equity exceeding 17%. During the period, Stellus funded approximately $18 million in new investments while receiving $49 million in repayments, bringing the total portfolio fair value to a range of $965 million to $975 million.

Operational activity remained steady, with the company repurchasing 274,343 shares of common stock at a weighted average price of $8.88. Additionally, the firm secured a new license from the U.S. Small Business Administration on July 14, enabling access to $250 million in SBA-guaranteed debentures. Management noted that 5.4% of the portfolio sat on non-accrual status at the quarter's end, though no new additions were recorded during the period. Full financial results are scheduled for release on August 10, 2026, followed by a conference call the next morning.
