Lennox Adjusts Annual Earnings Guidance Amid Residential Market Headwinds

Lennox International reported second-quarter revenue of $1.5 billion, a 3% year-over-year increase, even as the company grappled with persistent softness in the residential heating and cooling sector. While commercial demand surged, the manufacturer lowered its full-year earnings per share guidance to a range of $23.00 to $24.00.

The company’s performance highlighted a stark divergence between its two primary segments. The Building Climate Solutions division delivered 24% revenue growth, bolstered by strong national account performance and recent acquisitions, including Duro Dyne and Supco. Conversely, the Home Comfort Solutions segment saw revenue decline 7%, hampered by lower sales volumes and ongoing weakness in new residential construction. CEO Alok Maskara noted that while the residential market remains challenging, demand showed sequential improvement from the first quarter.

Operating income for the quarter reached $355 million, a 2% increase over the previous year. Profitability faced pressure from inflationary costs and factory under-absorption, though these were partially mitigated by strategic pricing actions and $30 million in tariff refunds. Lennox continues to prioritize capital allocation and portfolio expansion, recently adding the Comfort-Aire and Century brands to its roster to sustain long-term growth.
