Desktop Detective Brings Idle Crime-Solving to Your Screen August 19

Conradical Games and publisher Playsaurus have set an August 19, 2026, release date for Desktop Detective, an idle RPG designed to run quietly in the corner of your screen. The title allows players to investigate crime scenes and collect loot while multitasking, following the success of the developer's previous hit, Desktop Defender.

The game, coming to Windows and Mac via Steam, builds on the success of the studio’s previous project, which secured a Very Positive rating following its 2025 launch. Desktop Detective offers a blend of passive and active gameplay, allowing users to resize and reposition the window to fit their existing workflow. As players level up, they unlock new crime scenes and permanent character upgrades, hunting for over 200 distinct pieces of gear to optimize their builds.

Progression is handled through an Ascension system, where players earn Ascendium to unlock cross-run bonuses. This mechanic encourages repeated play sessions, catering to both those who want a background experience and those seeking to engage with the game's systems more directly. Following a strong performance for the title's free demo in June, the full release aims to expand the developer's portfolio of "corner games" designed for seamless integration with desktop productivity.
