The alliance builds on the recent launch of xPilot, a tool unveiled at NRF 2026 APAC that utilizes Microsoft Azure to translate real-time store insights into actionable workflows. By leveraging these digital twins, the companies intend to improve operational visibility and responsiveness for retailers globally. This technical shift coincides with a major infrastructure move in the UK, where Tesco has confirmed a two-year rollout of electronic shelf labels. Following a 2025 proof of concept involving Hanshow and VusionGroup, Tesco plans to equip approximately 3,000 locations with the technology. Kevin Tindall, Managing Director of Tesco UK Operations, noted that the transition aims to enhance pricing accuracy and reduce labor demands across the retailer's Express and supermarket estates.

The partnership focuses on integrating cloud, AI, and IoT technologies to create digital twins for retail, aiming to bridge the gap between physical store intelligence and scalable cloud infrastructure.
