Major General Patrick Henry Brady to Receive 2026 MOWW Distinguished Service Award

Major General Patrick Henry Brady to Receive 2026 MOWW Distinguished Service Award

During the Vietnam War, Major General Patrick Henry Brady saved 51 wounded soldiers in a single day, an act of valor that defined a career of service. On August 15, 2026, the retired Army officer will receive the Military Order of the World Wars’ highest honor at their 106th National Convention in San Antonio.

Lt Col David J. Worley, Commander-in-Chief of the Military Order of the World Wars, selected Brady for the Distinguished Service Award to recognize his decades of work in preserving constitutional liberties and promoting national defense. The presentation will take place at the Westin Riverwalk during the Commander-in-Chief's Banquet, where the retired major general is scheduled to deliver keynote remarks.

Brady, a 34-year veteran, earned the Medal of Honor for his helicopter rescue missions, often flying into minefields and active combat zones to extract critically injured troops. Beyond his combat service, he has held significant leadership roles, including president of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and commissioner of the American Battle Monuments Commission, where he oversaw the completion of the World War II memorial. The MOWW, a patriotic organization founded in 1919 at the request of General of the Armies John J. Pershing, continues to support youth leadership conferences and ROTC programs across the United States.
