Cayman Court Strips ATP III GP of Control Over Biotech Fund

Justice Jalil Asif of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands has ordered the immediate removal of ATP III GP Ltd from its management role at ATP Life Sciences Ventures L.P. The July 10 ruling follows a legal challenge, shifting oversight of the multi-million dollar fund to independent receivers.

The court appointed Alexander Lawson and Barry Lynch of Alvarez & Marsal to assume control of the fund with immediate effect. This decision displaces the firm’s current leadership, headed by Dr. Seth Harrison, ending his tenure as General Partner. The Rigmora Biotech Investors, who pushed for the change, stated that the transition to independent management is essential to protect the fund’s assets and maximize its long-term value. The move represents a significant shift in the governance of the venture capital entity, placing professional office holders in charge of the fund’s future operations.
