This expansion enables A2LA to assess organizations against the ISA/IEC 62443 series of standards, which govern the security of industrial automation and control systems. By providing independent accreditation for ACSSA, A2LA supports the verification of critical infrastructure protection as operational technology becomes increasingly interconnected. The move builds on A2LA’s existing role as an accreditation body for ISASecure’s other schemes, including Security Development Lifecycle and Component Security Assurance.
Trace McInturff, vice president of accreditation services at A2LA, noted that independent third-party assurance is vital as automation systems evolve. Dr. Mark DeAngelo, ISASecure program manager, added that the new offering serves as a milestone for the program, providing members with a pathway to demonstrate competence and consistency. A2LA, a non-profit organization based in Durham, North Carolina, currently maintains over 4,500 active accreditations globally, while the ISASecure program continues to operate under the International Society of Automation to certify conformance for industrial control products.
