The conference, themed "AI Partnership for a Brighter Future," is backed by a coalition of Chinese ministries and the Shanghai municipal government. Zhou Haibing of the National Development and Reform Commission stated that the event serves as a platform to balance technological growth with security, emphasizing China’s commitment to multilateralism and open collaboration. The agenda focuses on shifting AI from a purely technical tool toward a collaborative partner for global industries.
Beyond high-level governance discussions, the summit features a massive exhibition across the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, the West Bund, and the Zhangjiang area. Attendees can view over 3,000 exhibits, with 300 new solutions making their global debut. Academic rigor remains a priority through the new WAIC Academic forum, which has already accepted 284 papers from international institutions including Princeton and Cambridge. Additionally, the citywide "WAIC City Walk" initiative will turn 16 districts into interactive spaces, allowing the public to engage with AI applications across 30 landmarks.
