Production costs reached $170 million, further inflated by a $120 million marketing campaign. With a break-even threshold near $300 million and total global projections hovering around $200 million, the film is cementing itself as one of the studio's lowest-performing entries. Analyst Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations noted that the character failed to generate the necessary "event-level" interest, compounded by lukewarm audience reception despite praise for lead actress Milly Alcock.
Internal friction marred the project long before its June 26 release. Sources indicate significant post-production disagreements between Gillespie and studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. By the time filming wrapped in May 2025, the studio had reportedly intervened, bringing in writer Jeremy Slater to assist screenwriter Ana Nogueira in salvaging the edit. These efforts failed to sway test audiences; across four screenings, the film never scored higher than 70 out of 100, leaving DC Studios with a high-budget project that struggled to connect with viewers.
