The project serves as an accessible resource for students and explorers, mapping locations that range from 18th-century clandestine meeting spots to the homes of the influential Bloomsbury Group. Among the featured sites is the Molly House of Julius Caesar Taylor, a refuge during an era of strict criminalization, and the LGBTQ+ Traffic Lights in Trafalgar Square, which serve as a modern symbol of visibility in the heart of the city.
To support the initiative, Skittles has pledged a £100,000 donation to Queer Britain. Andrew Given, Chief Executive of the museum, emphasized that the digital tool addresses the frequent fragmentation of queer archives by anchoring historical narratives to the physical sites where they unfolded. The map highlights that chosen families have remained a foundational element of LGBTQ+ resilience, providing support systems that transcend traditional biological structures. By documenting these geographies of joy and resistance, the partnership aims to preserve stories that have historically been omitted or erased from mainstream record.
