CBC/Radio-Canada secured its full membership after more than seven decades as an associate member of the EBU. The transition grants the Canadian broadcaster access to shared investigative journalism networks, the Eurovision News Exchange, and the Euroradio Music Exchange. While the 2025 contest in Vienna has already concluded, officials confirmed that the country will field an act for the 2027 edition hosted by Bulgaria.
CBC president Marie-Philippe Bouchard described the move as a milestone for Canadian talent, noting that the platform will enhance cultural expression and assist in combating disinformation. EBU Director General Noel Curran lauded the inclusion, stating that Canada’s participation strengthens the collective impact of public service media. Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne previously championed the initiative as a strategic opportunity to boost Canada's arts and film sectors on a global stage. The broadcaster plans to announce the selection process for its inaugural entry later this year.
