Free People to Host Summer Social in Philadelphia Navy Yard

Four determined girls chasing the title of top cookie sellers take center stage on July 11 as Free People hosts a community social at Philadelphia’s Marine Parade Grounds. The event combines lawn games and DJ sets with a screening of the documentary Cookie Queens to benefit the Sundance Institute.

The gathering at the Navy Yard Park invites families to explore food trucks and interactive photo stations beginning at 5:00 p.m. The centerpiece of the evening, the 90-minute film Cookie Queens, begins at 7:15 p.m. The documentary traces the journey of young entrepreneurs and received support from the brand's own Creative Spirit Fund, an initiative established to bolster independent storytelling.

Beyond this specific project, the retailer’s partnership with the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program provides $25,000 grants to five women filmmakers for works currently in development. Tickets for the Philadelphia event are priced at $5 for adults, while children 15 and under enter for free. All proceeds from the ticket sales go directly to the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund, with attendees given the option to increase their contribution during checkout. In the event of inclement weather, organizers have scheduled the social for the following day, July 12.
